World Cafe

World café is a ‘conversational process’ which allows participants to freely discuss related issues with a range of colleagues. As the name suggests discussion is often held around tables arranged in café style. One person usually stays at a table to act as summariser of the discussion so far. Others move around tables after a fixed period and address the question written on a large sheet of paper held at that table. There being a different question at each table. Food and drink often accompany proceedings. The aim is not to reach agreement or plan for action but to capture the ideas and energy of participants in a relaxed setting.
